Local Government Chairmen in Enugu East senatorial zone of Enugu state have commended the people of their various local government areas for complying with Governor Peter Mbah’s order to end the illegal Monday sit-at-home in the state.
The chairmen who spoke with newsmen on Friday in Enugu ,expressed joy with the level of compliance recorded so far
Chairman, Nkanu East local Government area, and Chairman Association of Local Governments of Nigeria(ALGON) Enugu state , Hon Ikechukwu Edeh, thanked the state Governor, Dr Peter Mbah for banning the illegal Mondays sit-at-home. He said the people of his local government were coming out on Mondays..

” They are coming out. People are complying. We are a rural area, just as the Governor has promised us, to do, many things to make our place developed . We need to partner with him. We need to reactivate business activities in our areas inorder to attract investors to come. If you are sitting at home on Mondays it means nothing is happening in our places but if we come out on Mondays ,investors would know things are happening in our places and they will come and invest,” Hon. On his part, the chairman of Enugu North Local Government Area, Hon. Emeka Odunze, said that the ban on Mondays sit-at- home in Enugu state is a welcome development.
He said that people in Enugu North local government area were coming out on Mondays. “They are trying”, he said .
The chairman thanked the state Governor, Dr Peter Mbah for providing security. “We are improving on security matters . By next week Monday, you will see a lot of improvement.
Hon.Livinus Nze Anike, Chairman of Enugu East Local Government area, , said it is a good idea to stop sit-at- home in Enugu.

“In my own local government area,,I have been trying my best as the local government chairman, to create the awareness let people know the need for them to stop sit-at -home on Mondays and to go about their lawful businesses.and they complied.
“The security agencies, both the police, and the army, others were helping them to make sure that they should go about their normal businesses on Mondays
” It has been good. People are coming.Even Governor visited my locall Government last Monday, and saw how people were coming out for their normal businesses.”, he said.
Anike expressed joy with the level of compliance recorded so far in Enugu East local government area.. He expressed the hope that with the cooperation of the security agentsnext Monday’s compliance will be better, “many people will come out .
He advised people to go about their businesses. ” Sitting at home from Saturday to Monday, it’s a very long time, you’re loosing a lot money.”, Anike said..
