Enugu state Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on Tuesday, inaugurated 1,795- member, Enugu State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council for the 2023 general elections.
Performing the inauguration of the Council at the event held at the PDP Campaign Office headquarters , Independence Layout, Enugu Governor Ugwuanyi said the constitution and inauguration of the state campaign organisation became necessary to effectively drive the party to victory for all candidates in 2023 general elections.
He said that as 2023 political calendar had long begun and INEC lifting the ban from electioneering campaign, the state constituted a roboust campaign organisation under the formidable leadership of chief Ikeje Asogwa.
The team he said, was populated with tested, competent and experience politicians who would ensure that all the PDP candidates in the state achieve earlier and comfortable win in 2023 poll.
Gov Ugwuwnyi noted that Enugu people had consistently voted for PDP in all the election since the return of democratic dispensation.
“Our great party in Enugu has enjoyed overwhelmed support and kind consideration for the good people of Enugu state in the past two decades.
“This show of love, unflinching support and committed solidarity have been the wind in the sell of our party PDP in Enugu.
“The conservative of PDP government in Enugu State had also strived to fufilled their contract with the people within the limit of the available resources,” Gov. Ugwuanyi said.
The governor congratulated the Director -General of the PDP Campaign Council, Ikeje Asogwa, members of the organisation selected for the onerous task. He reminded party members that they were together and must work together for the success of the party.
“We must campaign for our party in our political wards, communities because when we win all the polling units in our wards, LGAs, the state is finally won.
“In reality, it is everybody’s business to sell our party .
it is also my expectation that our campaign will leverage the excellent performance of current PDP government in the state, goodwill of our great party and intimidating credentials and general acceptability of the flag bearer of our party to achieve landslide victory and all of them in 2023 general election.
“When we win the unit, we must have won the ward, when we win the ward, we must have won the local government, when we won the local government, we must have won the state”, governor Ugwuanyi said.
He added that PDP Enugu State had a tradition of being peaceful, united, law abiding and yet resolute in conducts of its affairs.
This attributes, he said had always been a guide to the campaign team in the state.
“It is therefore, my profound hounour and privilege to inaugurate PDP campaign council for 2023 general election in Enugu state for total victory of our party in .
“This too, by special grace of God will end in praise,” he prayed
Responding on behalf of the team, ,Asogwa thanked Gov. Ugwuanyi for the opportunity and privilege given to them to serve.
“With the nature of the team, there no doubt that we are going to succeed.
“Our opponent knew there is fire on the mountain and our assurance is that we are going to deliver our candidates starting from you with 100 per cent votes,” Asogwa said.
In attendance were the party leadership in the state, government officials .and support groups.
